Kerstin Behnke has explored the many similarities between artistic and (body)psychological fields of work on long runs and in interdisciplinary exchange with various colleagues and has developed Embodied Expression.
Prof. Kerstin Behnke, Professor of Choral and Ensemble Conducting at the FRANZ LISZT SCHOOL of Music Weimar, developed Emdodied Expression through close collaboration and exchange with Somatic Experiencing (SE) ® practitioners, Feldenkrais teachers and body therapists. Combined with her own experiences as a musician and teacher, the basic concept and the first workshops for working on artistic expression were developed at the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar, led by Kerstin Behnke and Dr. Andreas Hetmanek. Currently Kerstin Behnke is further developing Embodied Expression with Silja Rothe, also trained in Somatic Experiencing, as well as alternative practitioner in psychotherapy and systematic mediator. The focus of their joint work is on formats in the field of choral singing and choral conducting. She is interested in the interfaces between scientific/technical precision on the one hand and the permeability to the unconscious and the conceptually elusive on the other.
In addition, Kerstin Behnke designs concert and art projects in the transitional area between musical-artistic and physical-performative presentation.
